During the day, these new framed pieces of art possess the signature rustic/vintage appeal that Chase’s coastal sculptures are famous for but what makes these a bit different is the elegance that the light creates when it pours through the 100-200 cuts while back lit at night.  Coastal lighting taken to a new level!

Chase jokingly states that his goal for this new line is to re-invent the nightlight.  For these “reinvented night-lights” aka coastal sconce concepts, Chase has added a new ingredient from the natural world surrounding him, a basic element that has helped grow the pines, cypress, oaks and walnut trees that made the frames, and rust the steel that made the canvas: LIGHT.  Transformed as the sun drops down and the moon rises over the palmettos and oak trees of Daufuskie, each piece lights up, refusing to let an association of an island so beautiful ever get too dark.  The light seeps and pours out of every cut and creates an entirely different work of art that glows in a whole new way.

From the artist:

Don’t know why it took me this long to name one of my fish sculptures after Bald Head Island.  Bald Head was one of my favorite spots to visit while at school at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.  We use to pool our money to rent a golf cart so that we could all tour around the island.  Bald Head Island is a beautiful place with many great coastal artists in the region!  Oddly enough I have many customers who have beach houses at Bald Head that are decorated with my sculptures so I guess I am still there in a way.
